August 30 Painting

Yes, big failure at the top left. I accidentally put the side of my hand there. Then the color lifted and I tried to fix it. Big mistake.

I learned my lesson... usually painting over a layer in watercolor gives you unwanted results. Also, there is a very small time window where you can lift paint nicely.

Hmm.. well, lots of mistakes in this one. This is the second tutorial from watercolour.tv. The blue paint dried out since the 3 years I used it so in squeezing it I ended up with an exploded tube of chunky paint :(

Don't laugh at me, but painting frightens me. I think that's why I learned Photoshop, so I didn't have to paint. So finally I need to learn, so I made a dreadfully simple painting following a lesson from http://www.watercolour.tv/. I've decided to get a membership so I hope I can learn fast. Here's my painting which can be done by any 3-year-old

On the last day of the trip we did a hike to the Ice Caves in Kananaskis. It was a pretty steep uphill climb but what a fantastic view from the cave! (You notice the temperature difference right away; the caves are super chilly)

Happy Canada Day!!!

On the way back from Jasper, we did a hike called Stanley Falls. It's a beautiful uphill trek where you encounter many waterfalls.

On our last day in Jasper we went canoeing. We were on the Pyramid Lake at 8, before anyone else. It was amazing!
